Latinos Urge New Council Boundaries
A coalition of Latino groups proposed new district boundaries for the Los Angeles City Council on Wednesday that would increase, from four to five, the number of seats in which Latinos would have a good chance of being elected based on voter registration.
The map, which was to be presented to the City Council Redistricting Commission at a meeting at Valley College on Wednesday night, would create five districts where Latinos would make up more than 40% of registered voters.
The proposal was drafted by the California Latino Redistricting Coalition.
