Woman Arrested in Death of Newborn
Police have arrested a woman on suspicion of stabbing her newborn girl to death and discarding the body in a dumpster.
A man collecting cans near Nicolet Avenue and Coliseum Street discovered the body of Ada Carranza’s newborn baby girl, said Lt. Daniel Mulrenin of the LAPD’s child protection unit.
Mulrenin said officers used scent hounds to lead them to Ada Carranza’s house about a block away.
Carranza, 25, was booked on suspicion of murder and held without bail. The infant had been stabbed numerous times, police said.
Carranza also has a 4-year-old boy, police said.
