From Times Staff Reports
The California Highway Patrol will be out in force with a beefed-up patrol in Ventura County through midnight Christmas Day, with the goal of catching impaired drivers.
The stepped-up effort began at 6 p.m. Friday, with 80% of available officers patrolling roadways, said CHP spokesman Steve Reid.
Over the three-day Christmas weekend last year, Ventura County CHP officers arrested 20 motorists for driving under the influence.
