Oregon State 79, UCLA 65--The Beavers (5-6, 1-1) made sure they kept the Bruins off the boards and rode the hot hand of guard Felicia Ragland in Pac-10 play before 1,977 at Pauley Pavilion.

Ragland, who had only four points in Thursday’s loss against USC, scored 32. “We weren’t even sure until game time if she could play,” Oregon State Coach Judy Spoelstra said.

Kristee Porter had 20 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots for UCLA.

But she could not keep the Bruins (3-7, 0-2) from dropping their sixth straight.

“Our frustration level is kind of high,” UCLA Coach Kathy Olivier said. “This is a group that wants to win, and they worked extremely hard to get a point where they felt they had opportunities to win.”

The Bruins, who trailed by 15 in the first half and were down, 40-29, at the half, rallied to take a 53-52 lead on two free throws by Porter with 8:51 left to play.

But three Ragland three-pointers during a decisive 15-5 run by Oregon State put the Beavers in front to stay.
