* J. Roger Hirl will step down as president and chief executive of Occident Chemical Corp. Dec. 31. Hirl, who led the company for 10 years, will continue as an executive vice president of parent company Occidental Petroleum Corp. of Los Angeles until his retirement, scheduled for June 30, 2003.

* Alan Bergman has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer, Walt Disney Studios. Formerly vice president in charge of operations planning at parent company Walt Disney Co., he will be responsible for the financial, strategic and operational aspects of the studio.

* Eddy Tak Yu Yuen has been named chief executive of Tarrant Apparel Group, a Los Angeles-based provider of private-label casual apparel. He is a former president of Tarrant Mexico.

* Kim Williams, vice president and chief financial officer of NBC business development, has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer of NBC West Coast. She will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of finance at NBC’s West Coast operations, including its entertainment division and NBC Studios.

* Hal Bastian has been named director of economic development of the Los Angeles Downtown Center Business Improvement District. A former leasing director for Gilmore Associates’ Old Bank District project, Bastian will be in charge of business and residential recruitment efforts.

* Bill Roberts has been named chief financial officer/senior vice president, business affairs, of Gold Circle Music Label Group. He is a former finance chief at Trauma Records.

* Scan, a Long Beach-based seniors health plan, has named Kit Donaldson vice president of programs, and Marc Radner vice president of human resources. Michael Myers was named director of public and government affairs.

* John Bosko and Bob Bush have joined the Newport Beach offices of commercial real estate brokerage NAI Capital Commercial. Both Bosko, who will be a senior vice president, and Bush, tapped as a vice president, are former executives of Charles Dunn Co.

* Mark Stolnitz has been named vice president, post-production services, of Crown Media United States, which operates Hallmark Channel U.S., based in Los Angeles.

* L-3 Communications Corp. has named Leo Sullivan president of its Anaheim-based Power Paragon division, which provides electrical power systems and services for military and commercial applications. He is a former executive of L-3’s SPD technologies group.

* Tribune Media Services has named Clark Bender executive director of its TMS movie products division and has promoted Greg Baerg to executive producer of its Zap2it.com unit. They will be based in Santa Monica.

* Joseph Yurosek has been named senior vice president and manager of the middle market group at the Los Angeles office of Comerica Bank-California. Jeff Glowacki has been named vice president of the bank’s private-bank wealth management department.

* Becky Shelton, a former Sanwa Bank California executive, has joined Citigroup Private Bank as a senior private banker in the company’s Los Angeles office.

* Mark Tall has joined Santa Monica-based advertising agency Lunch in Los Angeles as head of brand planning. He was with ad firm Ground Zero.

* Ed Leonard has been tapped to oversee technology for all DreamWorks SKG animation facilities and production pipelines.

* Portofino Hotel & Yacht Club has appointed Glenn Bishop general manager and Jeannene Glenn director of sales and marketing.

* Madison Jobe has been named vice president of franchise operations of Ruby’s Diner, a Newport Beach-based restaurant operator. He is formerly of Fatburger Corp.

* Bruce Campbell has been named director of the Los Angeles office of Interior Architects Inc., a developer of workplace solutions. He is a former principal at Loring Cruz.

* Sara Rose has been named senior vice president, productions and acquisitions, of United Artists, the specialty film unit of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. The company also named Dennis O’Connor vice president, marketing, and Jack Turner vice president, production and acquisitions.

* Cherri Divin has been named senior vice president in charge of a new annuity-products unit of Transamerica Insurance & Investment Group. The unit will be based in Los Angeles. She is a former senior manager at KPMG.

* Lonnie Hirsch has been named president of Practice Builders, an Orange-based health-care marketing firm that is a subsidiary of Medical World Communications.
