Washington Mutual Branch Robbed
A man wearing a dark ski mask and grasping a silver handgun robbed a Washington Mutual branch on Hampshire Road on Thursday evening, authorities said.
Ventura County Sheriff’s Department officials released few details on the robbery, which was the third takeover-style bank holdup within eight days in Ventura County.
On Dec. 20, three masked gunmen held up a Bank of America branch in Thousand Oaks and fled in a stolen car. The next day, a masked gunman robbed the World Savings & Loan in Camarillo.
Thursday’s robbery was the 29th in Ventura County this year. Last year, there were 22 bank robberies in the county.
