There’s Something Bruin in Boston Since Trade

The Kings were one game below .500 when they traded for Jason Allison, who joined the team along with Mikko Eloranta in the Oct. 24 deal that sent Jozef Stumpel and Glen Murray to the Boston Bruins.

Since acquiring the high-scoring center, the Kings are 11-12-6-1.

Meanwhile, the streaking Bruins are 17-7-1-4 and have shot to the top of the Eastern Conference standings.

The teams meet for the only time this season Jan. 10 at Boston.

Allison, who leads the Kings with 28 points in 30 games, is scoreless in consecutive games for the first time since late October, when he was held without a point in three of his first four games with the Kings after a six-week holdout in Boston and the subsequent trade.

The Kings’ defensive breakdown in Saturday night’s 5-4 loss to the New York Rangers was an anomaly, but their one-goal setback was not.

They have lost 12 of 16 one-goal decisions, but they have given up as many as five goals only four times in 39 games.

They had not given up more than three in their previous 18.

Given the day off Sunday, the Kings resume practice today in preparation for Wednesday night’s home-stand finale against the Florida Panthers. After that, they go out on the road for five games starting Saturday night against the New York Islanders at Uniondale, N.Y. The Kings, 7-8-3-1 at home, are 7-8-4-1 on the road.
