Two visits to the end zone gave Tony Gonzalez a chance to brush up on his basketball skills.

Kansas City’s All-Pro tight end, unhappy with his role in the Chiefs’ offense this season, caught two touchdown passes Sunday in a 30-26 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The victory was the third straight for the Chiefs (6-9), who stopped Mark Brunell inside Kansas City’s 15 twice in the last two minutes to hang on.

The 6-foot-4 Gonzalez, a former college basketball player at California who has said he wants a 10-day tryout with an NBA team this winter, celebrated a one-yard touchdown reception by dunking the ball over the crossbar in the second quarter.

He hoisted a jump shot over the crossbar after Trent Green threw him a 12-yard scoring pass to put the Chiefs up, 27-17.

“I definitely want to give the NBA a try. That’s an inspiration of mine,” said Gonzalez, who had eight catches for 78 yards.

Brunell completed 22 of 37 passes for 283 yards and one touchdown for Jacksonville (6-9). The Jaguars were stopped on downs at the Kansas City six with two minutes to go, then drove into scoring position again after the Chiefs were unable to run out the clock and took an intentional safety that trimmed their lead to four points.

Following the free kick, Brunell threw 32 yards to Keenan McCardell at the Kansas City 27. A 14-yard throw to Jimmy Smith gave the Jaguars a first down at the 13, where the drive stalled when Brunell threw an incompletion in the end zone as time expired.
