Plan for Signs on Boulevard Set Aside

Share

City Council members decided Tuesday to hold back on a uniform plan for regulating signs along Harbor Boulevard.

“They liked the concept, but were concerned about the timing,” Deputy City Manager Catherine Standiford said.

The proposed program, estimated to cost $1 million to $1.5 million, is designed to improve the appearance of Harbor Boulevard by requiring all free-standing monument signs to conform to city standards. If implemented, the plan would be paid for with grant funds.

City officials are considering changes to the redevelopment plan and conducting a marketing study for Harbor Boulevard aimed at finding out what kinds of developments, including a music-themed park, would be feasible along that road.

Standiford said a common goal is to improve the aesthetics along the street.
