Road Extension, Bridge Open Today

A new bridge and road extension that will provide additional access to the Santa Clarita Valley’s largest business park and high school is scheduled to open today.
The Avenue Scott extension across San Francisquito Creek links McBean Parkway with Avenue Rockefeller in the Valencia Industrial Center. The project was built in conjunction with the Newhall Land & Farming Co.’s Bridgeport development in Valencia.
The company has committed $120 million to building roads and making improvements to freeway interchanges in the Valley, spokeswoman Marlee Lauffer said.
More than 800 companies and Valencia High School are located in the 1,500-acre park. The new road should help ease the commute for about 18,000 employees and 2,900 students, Lauffer said.
