A 4-year-old Huntington Beach boy drowned Sunday in a neighbor’s swimming pool.

Cylar Moss was playing in his own backyard about 1 p.m. Sunday before he apparently climbed over a fence into his neighbor’s backyard on Thunderbird Circle and fell into the pool, police said.

When the boy’s mother didn’t see him in the backyard, she went looking for him, peered over the fence and saw him floating face down in the neighbor’s pool.

The neighbor called 911. Paramedics and police officers rushed to the scene but were unable to revive the boy.

He was pronounced dead at 2 p.m. at Huntington Beach Hospital, police said.

In another Orange County case Sunday, a 14-month-old Fullerton girl nearly drowned when she fell headfirst into a 5-gallon bucket with about 8 inches of water.

Paramedics were called to the child’s home in the 500 block of Woodcrest Avenue shortly after 10:30 a.m., after the girl’s father found her and pulled her out of the water.

“When paramedics arrived, she was having difficulty breathing,” Fullerton Fire Battalion Chief Terry Stringham said.

The girl--whose name was not available--was first taken to Anaheim Memorial Medical Center but was later transferred to Children’s Hospital of Orange County in Orange after she began having seizures.

Information about her condition was unavailable Sunday evening.
