Singer Maureen McGovern and musical comedy artist Kaye Ballard will perform Sunday in Northridge. McGovern came to prominence in 1972 when she sang “The Morning After” for the motion picture “The Poseidon Adventure.” The song won the Oscar, went gold and was nominated for a Grammy. McGovern has recorded 28 albums, the latest “With a Song in My Heart: The Great Songs of Richard Rodgers.” She also has appeared on Broadway, given concerts and been featured in films and on television. She was recently featured as the voice of Rachel in the DreamWorks SKG animated video “Joseph, King of Dreams.” Ballard has performed on Broadway, television and in films. In the late 1960s, she co-starred with Eve Arden in the TV sitcom “The Mothers-in-Law.”

Chamber Music

The Valley Symphony Trio will perform Sunday in Valley Glen. Pianist Robert Chauls, violinist Irina Voloshina and cellist Lynn Angebranndt will perform works by Beethoven, Rachmaninoff and Shostakovich.

Celtic Music

The Celtic music duo Tuppence will perform Sunday in North Hollywood. Sara Kirtland and Simon Spalding hail from New Bern, North Carolina. Their repertoire includes medieval chansons, sea chanteys, jigs, reels and music from the 1890s, Ireland, Scotland, Louisiana and the Far East. Kirtland sings and plays guitar, recorder, bodhran and tin whistle; Spalding plays fiddle, mandola, banjo and a variety of ethnic instruments, such as the Chinese erh-hu and the Swedish nyckelharpa.
