He’s Simply Not Willing to Let Project Slide

Share

Maybe I missed something, but at my last count there have been three very flattering, uncritical articles about Ocean Trails golf course in recent months.

Enough already!

I realize this is the sports section, but coverage of this controversial project has been so sketchy since the actual landslide, that it behooves even the sports section to give some background regarding the issues and the real problems about this course, such as should it have ever been built, considering the negative geologic reports?

I live less than five minutes from Ocean Trails, am an avid golfer, and was opposed to this project from the time of the first public meeting about it. The reasons are too numerous for this letter, but try the geology, the high greens fees (the developer admitted to $100+ more than a decade ago), traffic access and the known environmental problems in a sensitive ocean bluffs area.

One might reasonably argue that a golf course costing as much as Ocean Trails (without even considering the landslide fix) is part of the problem with golf today, not part of the solution, and certainly nothing to brag about.
