Robert Tulloch and James Parker, wanted in connection with the slayings of two Dartmouth College professors, have been sighted in New Jersey and may be on their way to California, authorities said.

A state official said the two may be out of money, and have been soliciting rides from truckers at roadside rest stops. Tulloch, 17, and Parker, 16, both of Chelsea, Vt., were seen Saturday at a rest area in Columbia, N.J.

The silver 1987 Audi with Vermont license plates that the teens were driving was spotted by a state trooper making a routine patrol at the Sturbridge Isle truck stop in Sturbridge, Mass.

The teens, both of Chelsea, Vt., were charged as adults with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Half and Susanne Zantop, whose bodies were found in their home near the Dartmouth campus in Hanover, N.H., on Jan. 27. Chelsea is about 180 miles from Sturbridge.
