Appetite for ‘Hannibal’ Still Hearty
“Hannibal” dominated the box office for the third straight week. The grisly sequel to “The Silence of the Lambs” added $15.8 million to its coffers over the weekend for a total of $128.5 million. The Chris Rock comedy “Down to Earth” managed to hold onto second place in its second weekend with $11.2 million and a 10-day total of $34 million.
The two new releases didn’t fare very well. The critically trounced “3000 Miles to Graceland,” starring Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell, came in third with $7.2 million, and the offbeat fantasy “Monkeybone,” starring Brendan Fraser, didn’t even crack the top 10, placing 11th with $2.7 million.
