Brill Will Run New Primedia Subsidiary

Special-interest magazine publisher Primedia Inc. is consolidating its media trade publications and conference businesses into a new subsidiary that will be run by Steven Brill, the entrepreneur who founded Brill’s Content magazine. Brill will contribute 49% of the equity of his privately held company, Brill Media Holdings, into the new Primedia subsidiary, which will be called Media Central. In return, Brill will receive a smaller equity stake in the new venture, but both sides declined to disclose terms. Brill will still control Brill’s Content magazine as well as Contentville.com, an online seller of books and other media content. Primedia already had a minority stake in Contentville.com.
