Foothill’s Winning Streak Ends
Santa Ana Valley ended Foothill’s 22-game Century League winning streak on Tuesday, defeating the 10th-ranked Knights, 58-36, at Santa Ana Valley.
Leading by six at halftime, the Falcons (12-5, 1-0) outscored the two-time defending league champions, 15-5, to take a 38-22 lead into the fourth quarter.
Crystal Davis scored 21 points and Monique Cruz had 12 points and eight assists for Santa Ana Valley.
Santa Ana Valley held Kristen Mann, Orange County’s leading scorer with a 27.7 average, to 17 points.
Foothill is 10-7, 1-1.

El Modena 57, Canyon 42--Norrelle Dickson had 18 points, 15 rebounds and 10 steals for El Modena (6-9, 1-1). Lindsey Galasso had 16 for the visiting Vanguards.
In the Academy League:
St. Margaret’s 72, Connelly 37--Senior center Monique Kettler set a school record with 47 points. Kettler, who led the county in rebounding last season, grabbed 19 for the Tartans (6-4, 1-0).
In the Empire League:
Century 62, Loara 48--Charlenda Van Buren had 20 points for Century (9-6, 1-0), which opened the second quarter with a 12-0 run.
In the Golden West League:
Westminster 49, Ocean View 36--Eva Camarena scored 19 points and Ashley Hebert had 13 for Westminster, which improved to 2-0 in league.
In the Olympic League:
Calvary Chapel 58, Brethren Christian 37--Shayna Fabre scored 14 of her 22 points in the third quarter for the Eagles (9-8, 2-0).
In the Orange League:
No. 3 Brea Olinda 77, Valencia 20--Jackie Lord scored 21 points and and Tara Hefferly had eight rebounds and five steals for Brea Olinda (9-4, 1-0).
In the Sea View League:
No. 4 Irvine 63, Newport Harbor 24--Kristin Thawley scored 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting and Staci Morita had 15 points, all on three-pointers, for host Irvine (13-4, 1-0).
In the Serra League:
Santa Margarita 78, Lakewood St. Joseph 45--Lena Shaw scored 21 points, Kim Bloomgren had 17 and Kristin Lynch 15 points, eight assists and seven steals for Santa Margarita (13-5, 1-0).
In the South Coast League:
No. 2 San Clemente 70, Capistrano Valley 26--Lindsey Pluimer scored 16 points and Kristin Jenkins had nine points and eight rebounds for San Clemente (14-2, 1-0).
In the Sunset League:
No. 9 Edison 48, No. 7 Huntington Beach 45--Rachel Ziemann had 20 points and five assists and Ashleigh Noda had 17 points, making four three-pointers, for Edison (13-4, 1-0).
Amy Shaw scored 15 points for Huntington Beach (8-7, 0-1).
No. 1 Esperanza 75, Fountain Valley 54--Lindsay Helvey scored 10 of her 18 points in the second quarter, and Laura Jacobson added 14 for Esperanza (13-4, 1-0), which led, 20-7, after the first quarter.
