Airborne Freight Corp. said that a slowdown in domestic core shipments, coupled with higher than anticipated operating costs, will cause it to report a loss between 22 cents and 33 cents a share. Analysts on average were expecting a loss of 6 cents, according to First Call/Thomson Financial. Seattle-based Airborne blamed higher fuel costs and weather-related expenses for raising operating outlays. The announcement came after the close of stock market trading.
