In other South Coast League games:

No. 3 El Toro 67, Trabuco Hills 57-- El Toro led by only one point with three minutes remaining, but Ashkan Nazeri scored six of his 29 points down the stretch to lead the Chargers (16-1, 1-0).

Mission Viejo 42, Dana Hills 40--Travis Niesen scored 17 points for the Diablos (11-5, 1-0). Shane Delrosario scored 10 for Dana Hills (8-8, 0-1), which missed a chance to win when Alan Fulton’s three-point attempt glanced off the rim.

In the Empire League:

No. 5 El Dorado 63, Cypress 48-- David Patten had 20 points, Mike Wulff had 13 and Nick Lehnert had 12 to lead a balanced El Dorado attack.

In the Garden Grove League:

Rancho Alamitos 70, Garden Grove 67 (2 OT)--Scott Frank had 22 points and Richard Torres scored six of his 13 points in overtime for the visiting Vaqueros (4-11, 2-1). Andy Scimeca scored 24 points to lead Garden Grove.

In the Orange League:

Brea Olinda 63, Valencia 60--Eric Giesler scored 16 points, Evan Moore had 14 and Ryan Moore 12 for the visiting Wildcats (11-6, 1-0), who outscored the hosts, 14-4, in the third quarter. Emmanuel Ortega scored 20 points for the Tigers (11-6, 0-1).

In the Sea View League:

No. 8 Newport Harbor 60, Irvine 53--Tony Mellum broke a 50-50 tie with a three-point basket with three minutes to play, and the Sailors pulled away at the free-throw line. Aaron Yarnal had 22 points for Newport Harbor, and center David Cox led Irvine with 25 points and nine rebounds.

In the Serra League:

No. 1 Mater Dei 94, Servite 45--Cedric Bozeman scored 18 points and Travis Gabler had 14 points for Mater Dei (15-2, 1-0) which outscored Servite, 53-17, in the first half.

No. 2 Santa Margarita 62, Bellflower St. John Bosco 36--Lenny Collins scored 12 of his 20 points in the first quarter when Santa Margarita (16-1, 1-0) outscored St. John Bosco, 20-2. Travis Smith scored 15 points for the Eagles, who host top-ranked Mater Dei Friday.

In a nonleague game:

Aliso Niguel 57, No. 6 Ocean View 52--Brandon Sievers’ three-pointer with 22 seconds remaining broke a tie, and he added a pair of free throws with three seconds left to lead the Wolverines (11-7) to an upset victory. Sievers and Zach Zanolli finished with 21 points each and Dino Lamela added seven points, seven assists and seven steals. Torin Beeler scored 28 points and Marques Crane had 14 for Ocean View (14-3).
