Two Charged in Antley Break-In

An associate of Chris Antley and another man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges that they broke into the jockey’s Pasadena property, where he died last month of an accidental drug overdose.

Timothy Wyman Tyler Jr., 24, of Dana Point, who frequented the home before Antley’s death, and Jeffrey Jones, 22, of Sun Valley, are alleged to have broken into the garage at the ranch-style home in the exclusive San Rafael neighborhood.

Pasadena Superior Court Judge Terry Smerling set bail for the men at $55,000 each and scheduled a preliminary hearing on the felony burglary charges for Jan. 26. Both men were on probation for drug-related offenses at the time of their arrests, according to prosecutors.

Neighbors saw the men about 6 p.m. Thursday and called police, who found them with a truck full of Antley’s tools, Cmdr. Chris Vicino said. A locked chain and padlock on two large gates at the end of Antley’s drive had been broken, he said.

The same day, a coroner’s autopsy determined that Antley had died Dec. 2 of an overdose of methamphetamine and a weight-loss drug that breaks down in the body as amphetamine. The death initially had been investigated as a homicide.
