OK, so the Intelli-Table is neither gadget nor gizmo. It is, however, a toy with enough electronic circuitry and cool lights and sounds that it nearly qualifies as a high-tech device. After all, it was built by Fisher-Price Inc. with help from the folks at Microsoft.

Your child won’t know the difference. To any youngster ages 1 to 5, it is an entertainment center adorned with colorful knobs, buttons and a nifty light display in the middle.

The Intelli-Table comes with three “rings,” which pop onto the top of the table. One ring teaches children about numbers and the alphabet. Another teaches music. A third ring plays thinking games. All the lessons are incorporated into games played with the buttons, lights and sounds.

At $70, it’s more expensive than a bucket of blocks but also more engaging.
