Forest User’s Trial

* Re “Trial Underway for Protester of Forest Use Fee,” Jan. 15: I proudly display my annual forest pass on my car. My home backs onto a national forest, and I am a witness to the abuse the area undergoes regularly. Of course, we shouldn’t have to pay for the abuse of others, but a nominal fee like this really might be the best way help keep the forest clean and maintained.
Even if Terry Dahl disagrees so strongly, he should still be a supporter of the good that the generated money is actually doing. Instead of giving money to lawyers to “test the law,” he could have bought himself a 30- to 40-year pass and helped the forest in a big way.
