Teen Arrested in Child Porn Case
Responding to a tipster, Simi Valley police have arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of collecting and distributing child pornography.
Benjamin Seifert of Simi Valley was arrested Thursday at his home in the 6000 block of Dana Street by Simi Valley police, Det. Gary Galloway said. He was booked into Ventura County Jail on suspicion of possession of child pornography for distribution, capping a 14-month investigation.
A jail official said Seifert was still being held late Friday on $100,000 bail.
Investigators discovered on Seifert’s computer numerous photographs and video clips depicting children engaged in sexual acts, authorities said. He allegedly told detectives he obtained the pictures and video clips by trading similar images with others on the Internet.
“Unfortunately we are seeing more of this because of Internet capabilities,” Galloway said. “People tip us because they may see something on someone’s computer or they are bragging about it.”
Galloway said the case was also investigated by the FBI before being turned over to the Simi Valley Police Department.
