Police Chief’s Daughter Arrested on Burglary Warrant
The 22-year-old daughter of Santa Monica Police Chief James T. Butts Jr. was arrested Saturday on a warrant for burglary while visiting an inmate at a county jail in Saugus, authorities said.
Katrina Michelle Butts was arrested about 11 a.m. at the Pitchess Detention Center on a warrant for burglary issued by the Whittier Police Department, said Lt. Mike Dunkle.
Butts was taken into custody after she registered at the jail’s visitor center at the main gate and was randomly checked for warrants, he said.
The misdemeanor warrant for Butts’ arrest was issued in December, he said. She informed deputies during her arrest Saturday that her father was Santa Monica Police Chief James T. Butts Jr., Dunkle said.
Santa Monica police said that Chief Butts was aware of his daughter’s arrest but was not available for comment.
Katrina Butts was in custody Sunday night at Twin Towers jail in downtown Los Angeles. She is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
