Reagan Presidency

* Re “Reagan Has Always Been a Class Act,” Commentary, Jan. 19:
I find it difficult to understand how the admirers of President Reagan, when discussing his presidency, can fail to deal with his tripling of the national debt, the ugly Iran-Contra debacle and the increase in the gap between the rich and poor in this country. It is as if his admittedly warm personality is all that matters. Although I admire his cheery spirit and wish him well with his recent surgery, I think it is important that we not gloss over his failures.
