Water Board Seeks Candidates for Seat

Share

The Yorba Linda Water District board of directors decided against a special election Thursday, voting instead to appoint someone to the seat left vacant when Brett Barbre assumed his newly elected post on the board of the Municipal Water District of Orange County last month.

Yorba Linda board members had considered calling a special election to fill the remainder of Barbre’s term, but agreed the $50,000 to $80,000 cost involved was too much to spend for a two-year position that might not be voted on until June or possibly November, said water district General Manager Bill Robertson.

Interested candidates have until 5 p.m. Feb. 2 to submit a letter to water board President Paul Armstrong saying why they would like to serve on the five-member panel.

Applicants must be registered to vote and live in the district. The board will interview applicants Feb. 15 and appoint a new member Feb. 22. Information: (714) 777-9593.
