USC Gets an Oregon Sweep; UCLA Loses

Aisha Hollans scored 16 points to lead USC to a 69-67 Pacific 10 Conference overtime victory over Oregon State (11-6, 3-4) at Corvallis, Ore.

A layup by Ebony Hoffman gave the Trojans (8-9, 3-4) a 66-64 lead with 26 seconds remaining and USC made three late free throws to secure the victory.

USC had lost five of its last six games in Corvallis. It was the Trojans’ first Oregon sweep since 1997.

Fueled by two 13-0 runs in the second half, No. 20 Oregon (12-5, 5-2) defeated UCLA, 54-43, in a Pac-10 game at Eugene, Ore.

Michelle Greco had 17 points for UCLA (2-5, 3-15).

The Bruins are assured a losing season, their first since 1996-97.

Melody Johnson had 14 points and 12 rebounds as Arizona State ended its 14-game losing streak to Arizona, beating the No. 23 Wildcats 67-57 at Tempe.

Arizona State (13-6, 5-2) stayed even with Oregon for the Pac-10 lead.

No. 2 Connecticut 84, Syracuse 60--Svetlana Abrosimova scored a season-high 25 points for the Huskies (17-1, 7-1) in the Big East Conference victory at Storrs, Conn.

The Orangewomen (9-8, 3-4), were outscored 50-26 in the last 20 minutes.

No. 3 Tennessee 83, Kentucky 39--With no player scoring more than 11 points, the Lady Vols (20-1, 8-0) recorded the Southeastern Conference victory at Knoxville, Tenn.

Kentucky fell to 5-14, 1-7.

Tamika Catchings, of Tennessee will have surgery Feb. 5 to repair a torn ligament in her knee.

No. 7 Iowa State 95, No. 25 Colorado 61--Angie Welle scored 28 points and Megan Taylor added 23 for Iowa State (16-2, 6-1) which ended the Buffaloes’ five-game winning streak in the Big 12 Conference victory at Ames, Iowa.

Eisha Bohman led Colorado (14-4, 5-2) with 16 points.

No. 8 Louisiana Tech 83, Arkansas Little Rock 52--Kenya Bibbs scored 15 points to lead Louisiana Tech (16-4, 8-0) to the Sun Belt Conference victory at Little Rock.

Roberta Sarti had 12 points for Arkansas Little Rock (5-14, 0-9).

No. 13 Southwest Missouri State 76, Wichita State 60--Jackie Stiles, the nation’s leading scorer, paced the Lady Bears (14-3, 8-1) with 35 points in the Missouri Valley Conference game at Springfield, Mo.

Angela Buckner had 17 points for Wichita State (6-11, 4-5).

No. 14 Rutgers 39, Miami 37--Davalyn Cunningham made a game-winning layup at the buzzer for the Scarlet Knights (13-5, 6-2) in the Big East victory over Miami (9-9, 2-5) at Coral Gables, Fla.

Baylor 73, No. 17 Texas 51--Danielle Crockrom had 31 points and 20 rebounds to lead the Lady Bears (15-3, 4-3) to the Big 12 victory at Waco, Texas. Texas is 15-6 and 3-4.

No. 21 Utah 67, Brigham Young 57--Lauren Beckman had 18 points and nine rebounds to help the Utes (17-2, 6-0) overcome a second-half Brigham Young (10-8, 2-3) rally in the Mountain West Conference game at Salt Lake City.

No. 24 Villanova 71, Boston College 56--Katie Davis scored a career-high 23 points to lead the Wildcats (14-5, 5-3) to the Big East victory at Boston against the Eagles (8-11, 2-6).
