D.A. to Look at Death of Toddler in Hot Car
The 3-year-old girl who died in Rialto when she was accidentally left in a sweltering car by her foster mother has been identified by the San Bernardino County coroner’s office as Maryah Ponce.
Maryah was in the car about 20 minutes Friday and her body temperature rose to 108, Rialto police said. The car was parked at the woman’s home, paramedics said.
The 43-year-old foster mother has not been charged, though the case will be sent to the San Bernardino County district attorney, Lt. Joe Cirilo said. The district attorney’s office was not available for comment Saturday.
