Too Much Monkey Business at Edison Field
Hats off to Jarrod Washburn for his comments about the Rally Monkey. An evening at Edison Field is like going to Chuck E. Cheese’s with a ballgame thrown in. The endless parade of dopey games and contests that follow every half-inning show that Angel management has no respect for the game of baseball, the baseball team or the baseball fans.

Numerous Angel players and local sportswriters took potshots at the Disney Rally Monkey’s birthday party on June 29. It detracted from the game, they say. It was the best part of the game, we say.
The hapless Angels were down, 6-0, after Seattle’s first at-bat and yet to face 9-3 Jamie Moyer. Game over! The Rally Monkey and the postgame fireworks saved all 41,000 of us in attendance from yet another depressing day.
Get with it, Angels and sportswriters. The special attractions on weekends are all that keep the perennially hapless Angels from drawing fewer than a million fans.
