Ex-Police Officer Sought After Missing Court Date
A former police officer accused of molesting a teenager remained at large Tuesday after failing to show up for a court hearing in Santa Ana on Monday, officials said.
Jeffrey Charles Hamilton, 32, is charged with three misdemeanor counts of child molestation, said Tori Richards, spokeswoman for the Orange County district attorney’s office. The charges carry a potential three-year sentence, Richards said.
Superior Court Judge James Stotler has issued a $25,000 warrant for Hamilton’s arrest. Richards said authorities suspect Hamilton fled to Louisiana.
A 10-year-veteran of the Brea Police Department, Hamilton resigned after his arrest in December on suspicion of molesting a 16-year-old girl.
