9 Held as New Violence Hits Northern City
Nine whites were arrested when new violence broke out overnight in Bradford, the scene during the weekend of Britain’s worst race riots in two decades, police said today.
The fourth night of violence in the industrial city in northern England was described by a police spokesman as “minor and sporadic” compared with previous days.
Police, many equipped with riot gear, have kept up a high profile across the city since the weekend, when South Asian and white youths fought one another and police. Scores of police were injured.
