Festivals

This weekend the French will celebrate the French Revolution. Those who can’t jet to Paris to join the reverie will find Bastille Day festivals taking place in Southern California. The biggest occurs Saturday and Sunday at Oak Park in Santa Barbara. More than 40 French entertainers, including singers, dancers, mimes and jugglers, will perform on three stages. Arts and crafts booths, a classic French automobile show, a poodle parade and activities for children will help round out this event. Of course, any French festival would be incomplete without wine and food. Visitors will be able to feast on crpes, French-Indo-Chinese dishes, escargot, French pastries and more. A Bastille Day event will also take place at the Queen Mary in Long Beach on Saturday. The celebration will include fireworks, French and American music, dancing and food.* 14th annual French Festival, Oak Park.
