Chamber Series Plans 28 Concerts in Historic Southland Venues

For its 2001-02 season, Chamber Music in Historic Sites will present 28 concerts in venues as different as the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, the Powell Library at UCLA, the rotunda at Los Angeles City Hall, several architecturally distinguished homes and the newly restored Farmers and Merchants Bank in downtown L.A.

The season begins Oct. 28 and runs through May 19.

New performers to the series, sponsored by the Da Camera Society of Mount St. Mary’s College, include the ensemble of viols, Fuoco e Cenere, touring with mezzo-soprano Rinat Shaham (Jan. 27), the Mozart Piano Quartet (April 19), the Leipzig String Quartet (March 22), the Philharmonia Quartett Berlin (March 6) and the “chambergrass” ensemble Fiddlers Three (April 7).

Among returning ensembles are the Gryphon Piano Trio (April 21), Sequentia (April 14), Whitman String Quartet (Nov. 9), Altenberg Trio (Feb. 8), Tallis Scholars (Dec. 15) and Amati String Quartet (Oct. 28).
