Earthquakes Move Past Galaxy
Two goals each by Manny Lagos and Ronald Cerritos, and shutout goalkeeping by Joe Cannon sparked the San Jose Earthquakes to a 4-0 victory Wednesday over the Washington D.C. United before 8,673 at San Jose.
The victory moved San Jose past the Galaxy into first place in the West division with 35 points.
San Jose is 6-1-4 in its last 11 games. The Earthquakes have 35 points in 18 games this season, compared to 29 in last year’s 32-game season.
Kansas City 0, Colorado 0--Kansas City goalkeeper Bo Oshoniyi stopped 16 shots before 10,206 at Denver. Scott Garlick had 17 saves for Colorado.
Dallas 3, Tampa Bay 0--Jason Kreis had a goal and an assist before 7,119 at Dallas, helping the Burn pick up their first victory in more than a month.
Miami 2, Chicago 1--Goals by Tyrone Marshall and Diego Serna held up before 6,092 at Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Columbus 2, New York-New Jersey 1--Dante Washington converted Jeff Cunningham’s centering pass in the 83rd minute to give the Crew a victory before 15,855 at Columbus, Ohio.
