Playing without the league’s second-leading scorer, Tina Thompson, the Houston Comets were no match for the Miami Sol, which posted a franchise-record sixth consecutive victory with a 64-50 win Friday night in Miami.

Thompson, who was suspended one game and fined $500 for punching Orlando’s Jaclyn Johnson in a 57-52 loss on Wednesday, sat out Friday’s game for the Comets (14-6). Thompson averages 22.6 points per game.

Sheri Sam scored 18 points and Sandy Brondello scored 14 for Miami (12-9).

Miami led by 13 at halftime, then Houston missed 11 of 13 shots at the start of the second half and the Sol turned the game into a rout.
