From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A sport-utility vehicle carrying five teenagers overturned in Chatsworth on Thursday morning, leaving two girls in critical condition, authorities said.

The youths were riding in a Ford Expedition when it rolled over several times on private property near 11100 Browns Canyon Road about 2:25 a.m., said Bob Collis, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The car did not have tires that had been recalled, he said.

The driver and a passenger, both 15, were airlifted from the scene with critical head trauma, Collis said. The driver was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center and the passenger to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.

The other three passengers, two girls and a boy, were in stable condition with less severe injuries at West Hills Medical Center, Collis said.
