Right-hander Adam Eaton of the San Diego Padres was bumped from his start Thursday after he cut himself in the stomach while opening a package with a pocket knife Wednesday night.

Eaton needed two stitches to close the cut that was a little less than an inch deep. He’ll start Saturday against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Phoenix.

“It was just a boneheaded play,” said Eaton. who leads the Padres with six victories.

He said he was packing for the team’s trip that starts today and was trying to open a package of DVDs.

After the Marlins’ 5-4 loss to the New York Mets on Sunday, Miceli blasted Boles and the rest of the coaching staff for moves they made this season.

Boles was fired the next day.

That was the verdict of a Boston jury that settles a dispute that has simmered since the early 1990s between the team and three brothers who used to sell Green Monster T-shirts outside the park.

Reliever Rudy Seanez, who hasn’t pitched in the major leagues since having ligament replacement surgery on his right elbow last June 29, joined the Padres.
