Herbert W. Browar; Veteran TV Producer, Production Executive

Herbert Wise Browar, 83, a television producer and 1992 inductee into the Producers Guild’s Hall of Fame, died May 19 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank of a cerebral hemorrhage.

A graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University and an Army Air Corps lieutenant during World War II, Browar began his work in the entertainment industry as stage manager for early episodes of “I Love Lucy.” He went on to become a production executive with Al Simon Productions, George Burns Productions and Filmways Television.

Browar worked on such programs as “The George Burns Show,” “People’s Choice Awards” and “The Joan Davis Show,” and was associate producer of the “Mr. Ed” series. At Filmways, he helped to create such series as “The Beverly Hillbillies,” “Petticoat Junction,” “Green Acres,” “The Addams Family” and “Ozzie’s Girls.”
