I Palpiti Orchestra Plans Summer Performances

For its fourth Los Angeles summer season, I Palpiti Chamber Orchestra will give five concert performances and sponsor a public master class. The ensemble, conducted by Eduard Schmieder, will play on the Sundays Live series at the L.A. County Museum of Art twice, July 29 at 6 p.m. and Aug. 5, also at 6 p.m.

At UCLA’s Korn Hall, I Palpiti will play a strings-only program at 1 p.m., July 30. At the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre, on Aug. 2 at 8 p.m., the ensemble will play a 100th birthday tribute to the late Jascha Heifetz with a program of works by Mendelssohn and Astor Piazzolla. Soloists will be Heifetz’s student and colleague violinist Erick Friedman, as well as pianist Alessio Bax and violinist Pavel Sporci.

In Zipper Hall at the Colburn School, Aug. 4 at 8 p.m., Schmieder will conduct and veteran violinist Ida Haendel will be soloist in a program of chaconnes by Purcell, Bartok and Vitali, and Brahms’ Opus 34.

In addition, I Palpiti will sponsor a public master class by Haendel, to be given at the Colburn School on Aug. 5 from 2 to 4 p.m.
