A man shot by police after he said he had a gun and lunged at officers was identified Friday as John Curtis Ford.

Ford, 27, of Orange remained hospitalized at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he was being treated for three gunshot wounds to the neck and stomach.

Police went to Eisenhower Park about 3 p.m. Thursday after a caller reported a person loitering in the north parking lot. When police arrived, Ford allegedly placed one hand behind his back and told officers he had a gun, Orange Police Sgt. Dave Hill said.
