Christian Men’s Conference Planned in Chino

A Christian conference aimed at uniting men of faith and encouraging them to be better husbands, fathers and community members is expected to draw more than 5,000 people today in Chino. David Rosales, senior pastor of Calvary Chapel of the Chino Valley, will lead the conference at the Ontario Convention Center from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Speakers will include Calvary Chapel leaders Chuck Smith, Raul Ries and others. The conference will feature musical performances by Kings and Priests and the Calvary Chapel Praise Team. (888) 397-6238.

Diana Eck, a Harvard University professor of comparative religion and Indian studies, will speak about America’s new religious pluralism at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hsi Lai Temple, 1409 N. Walnut Grove Avenue, Rosemead. * The Jewish Historical Society will sponsor a bus tour Sunday of Jewish historical sites in Los Angeles and Venice, including several former synagogues that now function as African American churches. Many still have Stars of David visible in the windows or on masonry or doors. Hansa Raval, a retired U.S. Army physician and longtime practitioner of raja yoga meditation, will begin a five-day visit to Los Angeles on Wednesday to speak on the health benefits of meditation and positive thinking.
