GOP Insider Tapped for Top Social Security Job
President Bush has picked Jo Anne B. Barnhart, an experienced government administrator and Republican insider, to head the Social Security Administration, White House officials said.
Barnhart, now head of JAB Associates, a consulting firm, served at the U.S. Health and Human Services Department from 1990 to 1992.
Barnhart served as the Republican staff director for the Senate Government Affairs Committee from 1986 to 1990. Previously she was associate commissioner for family assistance at the Social Security Administration.
