Passmore Traded Back to Blackhawks

Share

Last month, two days after they obtained goalie Felix Potvin in a trade, the Kings shipped goaltender Steve Passmore to the Chicago Wolves of the International Hockey League.

Wednesday, Passmore was on the move again, not changing cities this time, but organizations.

The Kings traded him to the Chicago Blackhawks for an eighth-round pick in the upcoming entry draft.

In 10 months, Passmore has come full circle. The Kings obtained the 5-foot-9, 165-pounder from the Blackhawks last May for a fourth-round choice.

In 14 games with the Kings this season, Passmore was 3-8 with a 3.09 goals-against average and an .881 save percentage.

Add newly acquired defenseman Aaron Miller to the Kings’ suddenly long injury list. Miller (hip) is day to day, as is wing Scott Thomas (bruised thigh).

Back home mending are defenseman Mathieu Schneider, on the injury list because of a strained right groin, and center Eric Belanger, who has back spasms.

at Chicago, 5:30 PST

* Site--United Center.

* Radio--KSPN (1110).

* Records--Kings 28-26-8-1, Blackhawks 27-29-5-3.

* Record vs. Blackhawks--0-1-1.

* Update--Something familiar about all of this? There should be. In a quirk of NHL scheduling, the Kings are playing the Blackhawks in Chicago for the second time in 12 days. The Kings hope it’s not too familiar. They lost, 3-0, last time. The Kings went on to lose to the Edmonton Oilers as well, but they have since won three straight. The Blackhawks have also won three in a row, and five of seven. Their last victory was the most impressive, a 3-2 victory over Washington at the MCI Center to end the Capitals’ 12-game unbeaten streak, the league’s longest in two seasons.
