Girl Scout Troop No. 745 will host its second annual Camarillo Arbor Day celebration Saturday at Valle Lindo Park. The tree-planting event will include children’s activities, displays, giveaways and information booths. The Sheriff’s Department will offer to fingerprint children. The event is co-sponsored by Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District.

Voices

Gold Coast Concert Chorus, under the direction of Kenneth Helms, will present Brahms’ “A German Requiem” on Sunday at San Buenaventura Mission. The work will be performed in English with orchestral accompaniment.

Whale Festival

The fifth annual Whale Festival will be a main attraction for visitors to Point Mugu State Park on Sunday. The event celebrates the annual migration of the gray whales and the species’ successful return from the brink of extinction. There will be live entertainment, whale-watching stations, marine conservation booths, displays, demonstrations, food and raffles.

Benefit Dinner-Concert

The Coalition to End Domestic & Sexual Violence will host a benefit dinner-concert Tuesday at 66 California restaurant in Ventura. Titled “Women’s Voices,” the program will be headlined by Rain Perry, the folk category grand prize winner at the 2000 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. The rest of the bill: the Edwinas, an a cappella group; Tune Bandits, featuring Vanessa Hester; Suzanne Paris; and readings by local actresses Linda Livingston, Alexandra Currie and Tracy Abeles. Artworks by Norma Jean Campanaro and Linda Kish will also be displayed for sale. Proceeds will benefit the coalition.
