Man’s Body Found on Train Tracks

A man who might have been crossing the tracks was hit by an Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train Wednesday night, according to Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.

His body was found at 8:18 p.m. on the Metrolink train tracks 150 yards northeast of White Oak Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard, Humphrey said.

The man appeared to be in his 30s or 40s and suffered massive head trauma on impact.

“He was sadly beyond our help and was declared deceased at the scene,” Humphrey said.

The train did not derail and no one on board was injured. Officials did not know whether any passengers were on the train.

Humphrey said it appeared the man was trespassing and was hit by the train, but police are also looking into the possibility that his body was dumped at the scene before impact or that the incident was a suicide.
