BIG WEST WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT

UC Santa Barbara 79, Cal State Fullerton 50--The top-seeded Gauchos (20-8) got their bid for a fifth consecutive tournament title rolling with a solid performance.

Freshman Lindsay Taylor and senior Nicole Greathouse each had 19 points for Santa Barbara. Greathouse surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career.

Fullerton ended its season at 1-27, the worst record in women’s basketball at the school. Fullerton was 2-25 last season.

Freshman guard Tamara Quinn led the Titans with 14 points.

“This game was indicative of our season,” Titan Coach Barbara Ehardt said. “We fought hard, but we came out on the short end. We looked good at times, but sometimes our inexperience and lack of height came out.”

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 79, Pacific 76-- The Mustangs went into the tournament with a losing record and a No. 6 seeding, but upset the third-seeded Tigers (17-11) in overtime in the opening round.

Guard Odessa Jenkins scored six points in the final two minutes of overtime and had 19 points to lead the Mustangs (12-16).

Cal Poly overcame a 24-point effort by the Tigers’ Selena Ho.

Boise State 54, UC Irvine 51--Anteater guard Maree Vincent missed a potential tying layup with six seconds left and the Broncos held on.

The loss ended a five-game win streak by Irvine (16-14), which beat Boise State (12-16) by 20 points last week in Irvine.

Vincent led all scorers with 20 points.
