Fire Injures Pasadena Couple
An elderly Pasadena couple were hospitalized Saturday in critical condition, suffering from smoke inhalation after a fire burned part of their home late Friday, officials said Saturday.
When Pasadena firefighters responded to the blaze in the 1300 block of La Loma Road about 10:45 p.m., they found a woman on the floor in the kitchen, where she had collapsed. They found her unconscious husband in the bedroom, where they administered mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to revive him, officials said. Neither victim was identified.
The woman remained in Huntington Memorial Hospital’s intensive care unit Saturday, according to a nursing supervisor.
Her husband was transferred to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where a hospital spokeswoman said he was in critical condition.
