POSITION BY POSITION

* FORWARD: Clancy (6-7, 240) and Bluthenthal (6-7, 220) have a slight size advantage over Sanders (6-5, 215) and Andre Williams (6-7, 210). Bluthenthal will probably draw Williams because of the latter’s quickness and speed. If Clancy can get Sanders to play him without help from double teams, Clancy can have a big game even though Sanders is considered one of Oklahoma State’s better defenders.

* CENTER: Scalabrine will have to be patient against Jonzen, who loves to run. If Scalabrine can take Jonzen inside consistently, he may have success. But he may also get tired of having to chase Jonzen if the game is played at a fast pace.

* GUARD: Granville, who has been guarding players five to six inches taller, should get someone his size in Victor Williams. Williams will shoot whether he’s hot or cold. Baker is the Cowboys’ best player, so Jeff Trepagnier, who will have a four-inch height advantage, will try to contain him. Trepagnier, who has struggled with his shooting, will have to make Oklahoma State respect his shot.

* COACHING: Sutton, in his 11th season at Oklahoma State, is one of two coaches to take four different teams to the NCAA tournament. Bibby, in his fifth year as coach, is taking USC to tournament for the second time.

* THE PICK: USC by three.
