The head of sales and marketing at Yahoo Inc. is stepping down, the latest high-level defection from the struggling Internet company. Anil Singh, Yahoo’s chief sales and marketing officer and senior vice president of business operations, said he will retire in May to spend more time with his family and pursue personal interests. Singh, 42, joined Yahoo in 1995 as the company’s first sales executive--its 21st employee overall. Singh’s departure comes as Yahoo is seeing turnover in several top divisions and struggling to turn a profit this year. The company is looking for a new chief executive to replace Tim Koogle, and in recent weeks the heads of Yahoo’s Asian and European operations have resigned. Yahoo shares fell 75 cents to close at $15.31 on Nasdaq.
