Financing Reform

* The March 12 article, “Hollywood Celebrities Lobby for Campaign Finance Reform,” exposes an interesting hypocrisy. The actors and celebrities in this group want politicians to reform finance laws so that money won’t coerce decisions, a worthy and popular goal. Yet they choose to use their money and fund-raising abilities to coerce this decision. In doing this, the celebrities engage in exactly the same behavior that they claim is wrong and immoral. If it’s wrong for others, why is it right for them? Either walk the walk, or stop talking the talk.
